দীর্ঘদিন দিনাজপুর সীমান্তে চাকরি করে ১৯৭০ সালের ১০ জুলাই বীরশ্রেষ্ঠ ল্যান্স নায়েক নূর মোহাম্মদকে দিনাজপুর থেকে যশোর সেক্টরে বদলি করা হয়। এরপর তিনি ল্যান্স নায়েক পদে পদোন্নতি পান। ১৯৭১ সালে যশোর অঞ্চল নিয়ে গঠিত ৮নং সেক্টরে স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে যোগদান করেন।
